The World’s Only Albino Orangutan

Meet Alba, the world’s only recorded albino orangutan. Since being found stressed, dehydrated and caged in a small village in Borneo, 5-year-old orphan Alba is learning how to pick up the pieces, while trying to make new friends.

Her rehabilitation was successful. She was released into Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park, a protected rainforest region in Indonesia.

Her previous caretakers spotted her last year (2020) while working with a different rescue orangutan. According to the park rangers, she spends her time eating, exploring and resting. She is also allegedly a deft nest builder.
