Did you know that eagles are a symbol of freedom? Well, it’s mainly because they have no limits to how far they can fly or even what animals they can hunt.
It’s hard to believe, but eagles have been captured attacking animals that are twice their size. Equipped with exceptional eyesight, coupled with a beak that could cause serious damage and sharp talons with a grip that is 10 times stronger than that of a human, it is safe to say the eagles have what it takes to take down just about any animal.
It’s pretty amazing to see this footage. They must have been starving. The DNR officers in the State Parks of the UP of Michigan will tell you the best way to get a picture of a bald eagle is to find one eating road kill.
The local fishermen will tell you it’s a lazy opportunistic bird that would rather find something dead than hunt. My best pictures of eagles and osprey have been from nests they built around golf courses with shallow ponds or wetlands where they don’t have to work very hard to grab fish for their babies.
