The scary moment a male lion attacks a car just after mating with a lioness!
A Lion’s Unexpected Rage While driving the H4-1 early one morning, I spotted only a herd of elephants. Hoping for something more thrilling, I turned off toward H12 on a tip about lions. Sure enough, I found a pride sprawled across the road, drawing a crowd of vehicles.
The scene escalated when the dominant male began courting the female, who responded with repeated growls. Frustrated, the lion suddenly turned and charged the nearest car. Though no one had provoked him, the lion slammed into the vehicle—possibly to show off. Thankfully, the tourists had their windows up and escaped unharmed.
Moments later, after the shock subsided, the lion attempted mating again and was rejected once more. This time, he lunged at a nearby open safari vehicle. The guide reacted instantly, driving off and narrowly avoiding disaster.
The lion eventually settled down beside the female, but the unpredictable nature of his attacks left everyone shaken. These incidents served as a stark reminder of the power and unpredictability of even familiar wildlife encounters in Kruger.
