Salt Bae ‘abandons’ ridiculously priced UK restaurant six weeks after opening

Celebrity chef Salt Bae has attracted the rich and famous to his recently opened Nusr-Et Steakhouse in London which have hit the headlines with £37,000 bills.

Celebrity chef Salt Bae has revealed he’s leaving London after a short stay to set up his 28th restaurant in Saudi Arabia. Famous for his video and pics with the rich and famous, Salt Bae, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, is often seen flamboyantly cutting up expensive steaks and sprinkling salt.

But having been in London to launch a new high profile restaurant, where diners have shown bills of £37,000, he is now heading off again back to the Middle East, reported MyLondon.

He took to his Instagram stories to announce that Sunday will be his final day in London before he heads to Riyadh. “Sunday is my last day in London. I will go to Riyadh to open my 28th restaurant,” Salt Bae wrote.

He added “Sunday is my last day in Lovely London. I want to see your beautiful people before I go.” Although only in London for a short time he has hit the headlines with many wealthy guests having been keen to attend the restaurant.

Since his London restaurant opened on September 23, people with the money have turned up to have the Salt Bae treatment. But there has also been negative news about the opulence and extreme prices. One diner took to social media to show the £37,000 bill for dinner at his Nusr-Et Steakhouse in London.

The bill included a Golden Tomahawk steak at £850, 16 Nusret Baklava’s – a traditional Turkish dessert typically served with Matei Radulescu, a Turkish ice cream, at a total of £400, one sautéed broccoli (£14), a portion of asparagus (£18), three herb crusted fries (£30) and one side of mashed potato (£12).

A vintage 1996 bottle of Petrus was £9,100 alone, while two bottles of 2003 Petrus were also consumed at a whopping £9,950 – each. Not bothered by the prices, celebrities have flocked to Salt Bae’s restaurants – among them have been Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, and Naomi Campbell.
